James Reece

Chief Technology Officer

James Reece is Chief Technology Officer at Sona Asset Management. He joined Sona in June 2026, bringing 20 years of experience in buy-side technology.

James started his career in Operational Research at the MoD and spent some time as a consultant in data and reporting solutions for public and private clients in the UK and Europe. James joined BlueCrest Capital Management as a Quantitative Developer in 2006 and worked across a number of trading desks before moving to the systematic trading team in 2010 and relocating to Singapore. James was employed by Systematica Investments after spin-off from BlueCrest in 2015 and relocated to London to run the firm’s Technology Operations Group.

James holds a BSc in Geochemistry from the University of Manchester and a PhD in Mineral Thermodynamics from Cambridge University.
