Michael Faasen
Head of Fund Accounting
Michael Faasen is the Head of Fund Accounting of Sona Asset Management. He has 14 years of financial services experience specialising in the alternative investment space. Michael joined Sona in November 2022.
He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2010 at KPMG and over a period of 4 years worked in their offices in Johannesburg, Toronto and London leading the external audit teams for clients in the hedge fund and private equity industry. Michael started at Cantab Capital Partners, a systematic hedge fund, in August 2014 as a Fund Controller and promoted to Head of Fund Accounting in December 2017 overseeing all Fund Accounting and Corporate Finance. He then joined Napier Park Global Capital as Head of Finance in their London offices in 2021 overseeing the Fund accounting of the Credit Hedge funds, CLO business and Corporate Finance function.
Michael holds a B.Com Honours in Accounting and a Certificate in Theory of Accounting from the University of Pretoria.
