Stephen Smith
Head of Capital Markets
Stephen Smith is Head of Capital Markets at Sona. He has 20 years of financial markets experience, and joined Sona in September 2023.
Stephen joined Sona from Barclays, where he was Global Co-Head of Leveraged Finance Syndicate, responsible for the underwriting and distribution of leveraged loans, high yield bonds and private debt for corporates and financial sponsors. Prior to Barclays, Stephen was Head of High Yield Syndicate at HSBC, having joined there from Citigroup’s Global Loans and Leveraged Finance business.
Stephen holds a BA in Philosophy from Durham University, and a Masters in International Finance and Financial Institutions from the University of Glasgow.
